Importance of Plumbing and Lighting Fixtures in Interior Design:

Many homeowners and interior designers focus on the aesthetics of a room while utilizing lighting and plumbing fixtures as an afterthought. However, fixtures can play a vital role in bringing out the best in an interior design project. Fixtures such as faucets, showerheads, and lighting can make or break a design project. When designers have a solid understanding of the various fixtures in the market, they can add value to their design project by incorporating these fixtures into their design. Educating future interior designers on the importance of fixtures and the different types of fixtures in the market is crucial.

Pairing Fixtures in Interior Design Projects:

At Advance Plumbing, we not only introduced the students to different plumbing and lighting fixtures but also showed them how to pair them together for their future clients. Fixtures such as matching faucets, showerheads, and lighting fixtures can bring uniformity to a room, making it more appealing aesthetically. We also highlighted different finishes in fixtures such as nickel, chrome, or gold to show how they can add different aesthetics to a design project.

Education on Smart Fixtures:

As technology evolves, plumbing and lighting fixtures are also getting smarter. Future interior designers must know about fixtures with smart features, including motion sensors, digital temperature control, smart showers, and voice-activated fixtures. Utilizing smart fixtures for their designs can add ease of use, energy-saving solutions, and more convenience for homeowners.

Fixtures to Match Different Design Styles:

Since interior designers work with different clients with varying design styles, knowing what fixtures to pair with different styles is crucial. For example, a farmhouse-style home will require different lighting and plumbing fixtures than a modern-style home. Interior designers must know the different types of fixtures that work best with different design styles. Advance Plumbing introduced the different design styles and the fixtures that best pair with each style to the students.

Benefits of Educating Future Interior Designers:

Since interior designers are responsible for designing the interior of a home, they must have a robust knowledge of plumbing and lighting fixtures. By educating future interior designers on the different fixtures and how to pair them together for their projects, they can add more value to their design skills. This education benefits homeowners, interior designers, and home builders, as they can now create aesthetically pleasing homes that are both functional and practical.

In conclusion, Advance Plumbing's educational event for interior design students from Oakland Community College was a success. The students learned the importance of different plumbing and lighting fixtures paired with different design styles. The education provided a foundation for future interior designers to be more knowledgeable, enhancing the value they can bring to their clients. The outcome is a win-win for everyone, enabling homeowners to enjoy a beautifully-designed home, and interior designers to have an added skill set to design stunning spaces.
