Rediscover the Heart of Design

In a world dominated by mass production, supporting local designers has become more crucial than ever. For design enthusiasts and interior designers alike, nurturing local talent can lead to unique and meaningful creations that enrich our communities. One such initiative championing this cause is the Junior League of Detroit’s Designers’ Showhouses, where the love for design meets the spirit of community rebuilding.

The Junior League of Detroit and Their Designers’ Showhouses

Every other year, the Junior League of Detroit (JLD) selects a prominent estate in the area and curates a phenomenal team of local and national interior designers. Together, they transform the home into a Designers’ Show House. This event not only highlights incredible design talents but also supports the League’s philanthropic work. The funds raised help address the needs of Detroit children, young women, and families through various community impact initiatives.

Advance Plumbing and the Rebuilding Detroit initiative are among the proud supporters of the Junior League of Detroit. Their contributions of plumbing supplies are vital to the transformation of these historic homes, ensuring they meet modern standards while retaining their classic charm.

Introducing the Iconic Home for Redesign

For the most recent showcase, the iconic Charles H. Fisher Mansion was selected. Built in the 1920s, this nearly 18,000-square-foot home is now owned by actor Hill Harper, known for his roles in "The Good Doctor," "CSI New York," and "Homeland." This mansion, with its rich history and architectural grandeur, provided the perfect canvas for the talented designers to work their magic.

The Vision of Tiffany Rene

One standout designer at the latest showhouse was Tiffany Rene Interior Design. Through humble beginnings growing up in Detroit's historic New Center area, Tiffany, the principal designer, attributes her passion for design to her early admiration of the architectural details of the 1920s homes throughout her childhood neighborhood. She often recalls, “While other children played outside, I found myself perusing through my grandmother’s Architectural Digest & Better Homes magazines.” Twenty years later, her discerning eye is still exceedingly present as she creates functionally driven, fashionably tasteful interiors that are well-suited to the client’s vision.

Transforming Spaces with Elegance

Tiffany Rene’s work at the Fisher Mansion was nothing short of spectacular. She infused contemporary elements with the home’s historic charm, creating spaces that are both functional and aesthetically pleasing. Her designs are a testament to how local talents can breathe new life into historic structures, preserving their legacy while making them relevant for today's lifestyle.

The Designers’ Show House Event’s Impact

The significance of the Designers’ Show House event extends beyond showcasing beautiful interiors. It allows the Junior League of Detroit to continue its philanthropic work, supporting initiatives that meet the needs of Detroit's children, young women, and families. The event also contributes to community-based grants and scholarships given out annually by the organization. In the most recent event, 39 designers contributed to redesigning 44 spaces within the Fisher Mansion, each adding their unique touch to this historic home.
